Where Potential Takes Root
At Malawi Children’s Mission (MCM), we know that one child’s success begins with holistic support tailored to their unique needs. Through intentional, individualized initiatives that nurture the whole child, MCM lays strong foundations that empower children to rise beyond circumstance and step confidently towards independence. Our 2026 theme, “Where Potential Takes Root,” captures this vision, symbolized by the resilient Baobab tree, its roots, trunk, and branches reflecting the journey of a child’s growth with MCM.

2025 End of Year Thank You From Ken Mpemba
As we come to the end of this year, I want to personally take a moment—on behalf of the entire M’bwana Children’s Mission family, known as Malawi Children’s Mission (MCM) in the states, to say THANK YOU.
Dreams Become Reality
Often, we are blessed with moments that reminds us why Malawi Children’s Mission exists and how our generous donors truly changes lives. Here a few of those moments.
Celebrate Eneless
It’s hard to put into words how proud we are of Eneless Banda — a shining light in the MCM family and a true testament to the power of education, perseverance, and purpose.
Maize Raise 2025
Thank you to everyone who has reached out with concern, encouragement, and support. We are still assessing the full impact of USAID cutbacks on our children's lives and MCM’s programs.
The Ripple Effect: USAID Closures & MCM’s Children
I want to share an important update on a situation unfolding in Malawi that could have far-reaching consequences for humanitarian efforts across the country, including the children we support at MCM.
2024 A Year of Possibilities
Please take a moment to hear from Ken Mpemba, MCM's Founder and Executive Director, as he shares the impact made to positively change the lives of our children and their families in 2024. "Together we are making a difference" thanks to the generosity and partnership of many donors and advocates.
MCM’s Vocational Training Program: Lifting Up a Community
We are proud to celebrate the graduates of MCM's Vocational Training Program. These young adults committed themselves to learning new skills in tailoring and hairdressing, all while balancing responsibilities as parents, caregivers, and providers. Every Friday and Saturday over the past year, they trained at the center. Their dedication to building a better future for their families is truly inspiring.
Global Classroom: MCM’s Learners Reflect
For the past 10 years MCM Academy learners have participated in the Global Classroom Program which started as a seed of an idea. It has since blossomed into an integral component of the primary school curriculum.
Today MCMA standards 2 - 8 share with their "friends" through pen pal letters and video calls. They create curriculum based projects and learn about each other's cultures. These future leaders are expanding their vision of the world.
Take a moment to watch this video as MCM Academy alumni reflect on their memories and impact of the Global Classroom Program
A Portrait of One Family
While recently working at Malawi Children’s Mission, I had the privilege to visit with families in the community, catch up with our children and play a lot of checkers. What stood out most this trip was that MCM’s growth over the years created a wide range of programming that addresses the individual challenges of each child. I left with a deeper appreciation for the scope of work being done to change lives.
The Mervis House
This is a love story about one girl and a community that believes every child deserves the opportunity to achieve their full potential. We are grateful to the generous donors who made this possible for Mervis. See how it was made possible HERE.
An Empowering Message from MCM’s YWI
To celebrate International Women’s Day, MCM's Young Women's Initiative discussed gender bias and how it shows up on different levels in school, family, the community and workplace. They believe that together equality can be attained by taking on the responsibility for change and understanding their role in the process.
Let MCM's girls tell you how they plan to create a better future for themselves, their community and the county. WATCH THIS VIDEO.
